Hello, I know our hourly employees have been patiently waiting for the payout of their 2020-2021 bonus. Unlike regular hours worked, this bonus does not fall under education code 45167 for reimbursement via special check. 
What happened was, during negotiations President, Dawn Dooley submitted an information request for the baseline of hours substitutes and hourly employees worked.
The District came to negotiations committee with an offer,  any hourly employee that worked 500 hours or more during that school year would receive the one time $500.00 bonus.

What a great way to start the 2022-2023 school year. President Dawn Dooley made the announcement at the SELPA open year meeting that the union has been working on recognizing our Special Education Aides at full time equivalent for years. The question that was always asked of the District, why have two five hour Aides overlapping their schedules to support a student when you could potentially have one Aide for 7 hours. These Aides will be eligible for full benefits. These positions will be offered and should be in effect for the target date of September 1, 2022!

Bring your ID during the enrollment times to Fontana Adult School, there are a lot of opportunities available in the clerical field at FUSD, maybe now is the time to make that move! 

Plan on attending Local 675 Chili Cook-Off and Picnic Saturday August 27, 2022 from 11:00am - 4:00pm. Our own NextGen Committee Co-Chairperson Josh Green will be participating going for the big win! The cost is only $5.00 per person, that includes admission, 1/2 price on beverages, game tickets and drawings for other valuable prizes.

Congratulations to the Class of 2022! Especially the recipients of the Local 8599 Scholarship Grant of $500.00. If your student was one of the recipients please call the Union Hall and let us know if you would like to attend our June or July General Membership Meeting with your scholar to receive their grant. Further congratulations goes out to the following recipients of the United Steelworkers International Philip Murray Scholarship in the amount of $1500.00. Nathan Razo, Natalie Strain, Saylin Gomez and Jose Martinez. 

The Fontana Days Parade was well attended by Locals 8599, 7600, 5632 and 1853. Collectively, we represent over fifteen thousand (15,000) employees in Fontana. 
We chanted the following verses -
Leader said "FONTANA IS" response - "A STEELWORKER TOWN"

The Leader says "WHOS GOT THE POWER?" response -  "WE GOT THE POWER!" Leader said "WHAT KIND OF POWER" response - "UNION POWER!"

Pick up your wristbands for entry into the Solidarity Family Picnic! April 25-May 11, 2022 8:00am - 4:30Ppm at the Union Hall, 16981 Foothill Blvd. Fontana Suite A-1. This is the ONLY way you will be admitted into the picnic. 
Solidarity Family Picnic will be held on Saturday May 14, 2022 from 12:00-4:00 at Jurupa Hills Park (Martin Tudor Park) 11660 Sierra Ave. Fontana. 
There will be tacos, nachos, churros, fruit salad cups, games for the kids a petting zoo, raffles, DJ and karaoke.

Great News Local 8599 Family! All your hard work is going to pay out on May 15, 2022. 8% base salary will be paid retroactively back from July 1, 2021 - May 15, 2022. 
Retroactive on all additional assignments and overtime will still be paid out on August 15, 2022 for the time frame of July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022.
