Explanation of Release Time for 2% Bonus Grievance #9802-24

Please see the attached memo that was sent out in your FUSD email on Wednesday April 29, 2025. 

The memo references a resolution to Grievance #9802-24.  You may be asking yourself, what is that all about? Here is a brief explanation.

In May 2024 we voted in favor of passing the Tentative Agreement for our One Time Salary Bonus for the 2024-2025 fiscal year base salary only. The USW understood this included the 4% negotiated salary increase to begin on July 1, 2024 and an additional 2% negotiated salary increase to begin on January 1, 2025. When some of our Members received their bonus, they did the math, only to find out the Distict did not include the 2% salary increase in the bonus. This affected all Collective Bargaining Unit Members that were employed with the District as of August 1, 2024. 

In July 2024 the USW filed a Class Action Grievance stating that, the base salary for Classified Bargaining Unit Members for the fiscal year 2024-2025 shall include the 2% salary increase in January. The District disagreed. 

On April 16, 2025 the USW and the District met in State Mediation, in this meeting we came to this resolution:. [See the Attached Memo] 

Instead of the District paying the 2% in lost bonus money, the District and the USW settled on paid release time. Please use this release time as you would vacation or PN time, request this time in the same manner. This time must be used by October 31, 2025.
