Share the Warmth Drive

The Women of Steel Committee organized the Share the Warmth Drive in early 2024. The community donated very generously to our warm weather gear drive. The donation was taken to the FUSD Clothing Closet, the Women of Steel donated their time to put the donation on hangers and racks.

Women of Steel Committee Socktober Sock Drive 2022-2023

Thank you to the School Sites and Community for your continued support and donations.  Special thanks to the Fontana Foundation of Hope  for their generous contribution to help us achieve the collection of over 2000 pairs of underwear and 1700 pairs of socks during the 2022-2023 "Socktober" Sock Drive. 
Secondly, Your Women of Steel Committee and Child Welfare and Attendance Liaisons are the recipients of the prestigious USW Cares Jefferson Award for Multiplying Good awarded for our extraordinary acts of service in the community across the United States and Canada.  

District 12 Sub District 1 Women of Steel Training Conference

United Steelworkers Local 8599 was the host location of the April 18-21, 2022 Steel Training Conference. Twenty Five sisters attended this extensive training lasting three and a half days. A woman's place is in her Union, a woman's place is to be active in her Union.

Ronald McDonald House Tour

On Wednesday April 27, 2022 The Women of Steel Committee presented a $5000.00 check to the Ronald McDonald House for sponsorship of a room at the Ronald McDonald House.
