New State Vaccination Mandate
Hello USW Local 8599 Family, below you will find the latest California State Vaccination Mandate. As school district employees we will be required to provide proof of COVID vaccine or attend a testing facility weekly to obtain a COVID test.
The Union does not have control over this mandate, what we will be doing is negotiating the terms of the mandate. For instance, if an employee is going for testing what will your job do without you?, who will be tracking and notifying employees weekly that testing is necessary?, what happens if I need to get tested and I don't get tested?. There are many other questions that there are, these are just a few.
We will be meeting with the District to go over the language for an agreement.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the Union Hall. This mandate if very new and many questions are unanswered at this time. The District and the Union have until October 15, 2021 to implement a plan.
